Brian Dean Sousa, the Director of Music Ministries at Saint Thomas Aquinas since October 31, 2006, holds a bachelors degree in Sacred Music with a concentration in organ from Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, NJ. He was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts where he has spent most of his life. He began his study of organ, “the king of instruments”, as a Jr. in high school with Mr. Raymond Whalon, may he rest in peace, and since then his teachers have included the illustrious Ken Cowan and the distinguished Diane Belcher.
In addition to his local performances Mr. Sousa has also performed in Straelen, Germany; Lisboa, Portugal; and Fatima, Portugal. He has also been privileged to sing on the “Royal Christmas Tour” in 2005 with vocal soloists, Andrea Bocelli, Denyce Graves, and Robin Fullman who were accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. The venues included: Uniondale, NY - Nassau Coliseum / Washington, D.C. - MCI Center / New York, NY - Madison Square Garden / Boston, MA - td bank north garden / East Rutherford, NJ - Continental Airlines Arena / Chicago, IL - United Center / Phoenix, AZ - America West Arena / Fresno, CA - Save Mart Center. Mr. Sousa is a member of a slew of professional organizations which include: National Pastoral Musicians, American Guild of Organists, Choristers Guild, American Choral Directors Association, Organ Historical Society, The Church Music Association of America, and Adoremus - the Society for the Renewal of the Sacred Liturgy.
