December 10, 2006 Parish
Dear Parishioners and Friends, Our Blessed Mother appeared to Juan Diego in December, dressed as an Aztec princess, who was “with child.” The Church celebrates Our Lady of Guadalupe as “Queen of the Americas,” and our own nation was put under the patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Immaculate Conception by the American bishops back in 1846, eight years before the definition of the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception by Pope Pius IX in 1854. These two Marian feasts help us enter into the spirit of the
Advent Season, as we prepare our own hearts to be fitting dwelling places
for God’s own Son at Christmas time, so that we too, like our Blessed
Mother, might carry Christ, the Savior of the world, to all whom we meet. Fr. Francis will be passing through Charlottesville next Sunday (12/17) and will offer the 5:15 LifeTeen Mass.
