Parish

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

It was brought to my attention at our Parish Council meeting this past Tuesday that I did not express myself very well in last weekend’s bulletin when I said “When we receive such blessings from the Lord, we have to be mindful of passing on those blessings to our brothers and sisters.” Some people took that to mean that I wanted to use some of the money that you generously gave to the parish over Christmas and at the end of the tax year for the building of a “Habitat for Humanity” house. Let me assure you that that is NOT what I meant. No, if you give money for the general upkeep and maintenance of the parish in the weekly collection, it is used for that purpose. If you give money towards our mortgage reduction, it is used for that purpose. All I meant is that when the Lord has blessed our community so abundantly, we, as a community, need to be aware of our obligation to be a blessing to our brothers and sisters as well. One of the ways we might do this as a parish community in the coming year would be for us to take on the commitment of building another “Habitat for Humanity” house from start to finish, as the parish did the year before I arrived here as pastor.

Speaking of Parish Council, during the Spring Semester, for at least the next three months, our monthly Parish Council meeting is going to be on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 PM, rather than our usual first Tuesday of each month. As always, Parish Council meetings are always open to all parishioners.

And speaking of the Spring Semester, welcome back to all our returning students!
