Parish

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

One thing you’ll notice at all the Masses this weekend at St Thomas are a number of our young people in their Charlottesville Catholic School uniforms, serving at Mass, helping out, or simply attending Mass with their families. That’s because we’re observing the start of “Catholic Schools Week” this weekend, and we’ll get a chance to hear various CCS families talk about their love for and commitment to our community’s Catholic school. They’ll also have a table set up in the vestibule, so make sure you stop by!

Another table set up this weekend is the one organized by our Pro-Life Committee here at St Thomas. Monday, January 22 is the Annual March for Life in Washington, DC, marking the sad anniversary of the Roe v Wade decision of the Supreme Court. There are two full buses going from Charlottesville to the March this year, so stop by their table and help support the cause of life.

Finally, next weekend, January 27-28, we will be celebrating the Solemnity of St Thomas Aquinas at all our Masses, because it is the patronal feast of our parish. We’ll be blessed to have Fr Walter Wagner, O.P. and our eight Dominican novices from Cincinnati, OH visiting with us and the novices will have a chance to speak after Communion at all our Masses, asking you to help out with the cost of running our Novitiate, as God continues to bless our Dominican community with fine new vocations.

fr Brian, OP
