Parish

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

A hearty “Congratulations!” to all of our juniors in high school (and a few others thrown in for good measure) who are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation here at St Thomas this Sunday at 2 PM from Bishop DiLorenzo! And a sincere “Thank you” to Mike School, our parish Youth Minister, and to the Small Group leaders this year who worked so closely with our Confirmandi to get them ready for the Sacrament.

I also want to take a moment to reiterate my thanks to all who worked so hard to make our Holy Week and Easter Triduum celebrations here in the parish so memorable. To Marta Brannon, our Director of Worship, and her entire crew of fellow workers, including Dr Jack Vogeley, the Donlon and Walker families, and all the volunteers who stepped forward to help in the planning and organizing of our various liturgies. To Fr Luke for organizing all the Altar Servers and contributing to the dignity and solemnity of our celebrations, to Fr Dominic for the great job he did in leading this year’s RCIA program, and to Brian Dean Sousa and those who played and sang for providing all of the beautiful music selections for our various celebrations. And to you the parishioners of St Thomas for your contributions towards Easter flowers and your ongoing support of the various ministries of the parish, thank you! A parishioner who was away from St Thomas for Palm Sunday got back to the parish and said to me in an e-mail “I realized once again how lucky we are at St. Thomas after being in __ for the weekend. Not that Palm Sunday was bad or the preaching unorthodox--it just pales in comparison.” Kind words, and if they are true, it’s only due to the very hard work of a lot of different people.

fr Brian, OP
