Fr. Brian Mulcahy, OP
Fr Brian Martin Mulcahy, OP, the pastor at St Thomas Aquinas University Parish since All Saints Day, November 1, 2002, first got to know the parish on his very first weekend in Charlottesville as a first-year student at the University back in the Fall of 1980.  St Thomas Aquinas Parish became his "home away from home" during his four years as an undergrad at UVA, so he feels particularly blessed to have the opportunity to give back to the parish, as its pastor, a small portion of what the parish gave him during those four years.

Fr Brian grew up mostly overseas, because his father was a career U.S. diplomat whose area of interest was Africa.  Fr Brian was born in Harare, Zimbabwe (Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia at the time.)  When the Mulcahys lived in the States, Washington, DC was home. He's the youngest of five brothers and sisters and is uncle to five nephews and four nieces. Fr Brian entered the Dominican Order in August 1984, made his Final Vows in May 1988, and was ordained a priest in May 1990.  Since ordination, he's had assignments in Washington, DC; New Haven, CT; Rome, Italy; New York City; Buffalo, NY; Youngstown, OH and now Charlottesville.
