Fr. Dominic Langevin, O.P.

Born outside of Chicago into a Catholic family and later raised in Fairfield, Connecticut, Father Dominic attended Catholic grade school, public middle school, and a Jesuit high school. He went to Yale University for college and met the Dominican friars at the Church of St. Mary in New Haven. While Father Dominic had sensed God calling him to the priesthood while in high school, he did not know where to become a priest until he met the friars in New Haven. The combination of preaching, study, prayer, community life, and historical tradition immediately attracted him to the Dominicans. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in the Humanities in 1998, he entered the Order.

After receiving his formation in Cincinnati, Oakland, and Washington, Father Dominic was ordained to the priesthood in Washington in June of 2005. He served for a summer as a chaplain at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, returning to Washington for the academic year in order to finish a teaching degree (the ecclesiastical Licentiate) in theology. For six months afterwards, he was assigned to work with the Dominican Foundation, a group of friends and benefactors of the Dominicans helping with their financial needs. He came to St. Thomas Aquinas at UVA in October of 2006.

At St. Thomas, Father Dominic works in a particular way with adults becoming Catholic (the RCIA program) or preparing to receive sacraments, with the young adult and graduate student ministry programs, and with adult education.

Father Dominic’s parents are alive and happily married. He has two younger sisters.

In his free time, Father Dominic enjoys studying theology, reading, and sports.
