Our mission is to help build community within the parish by planning parish socials, seasonal parties and receptions. Members may choose to participate in various ways including planning for an event, purchasing food and supplies, decorating and set-up for the event.

Members occasionally make a meal for parishioners who have had a recent death in the family or who are dealing with serious illness/surgery in the family.

The goal of this ministry is to extend congratulations and support to new parents from our parish community. Parishioners occasionally make a dinner for the family who has recently had or adopted a baby. Both new and current members are asked to sign-up and include an e-mail address.

Sunday Coffee and Donuts (Judy Zackarias, 978-3803)

Committee prepares coffee and donuts after Sunday Mass. Volunteers are needed to either set-up before the 9:00 Mass or clean-up after the 11:30. Volunteers are asked to commit once a month.

Provide a welcoming environment by contacting new parishioners by phone or writing and/or assisting at the hospitality table after Sunday Masses. Commitment time: 2-4 hours per month. Additionally this committee also hopes to provide ushers and offertory collectors at all the masses.

Bereavement Committee (Marta Brannon, 293-8081x18 / This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it )

This committee provides caring support to members of the parish when they experience the loss of a loved one. Members of this committee work together to notify the parish upon the death of a parishioner and host a reception in St. Thomas hall upon the family's request. The bereavement committee will sponsor an annual Mass for parishioners who have died during the year.

Spiritual Life Opportunities

The purpose of the Dominican 3rd Order is the spiritual formation of its members in the charism of study, prayer and service according to the spirituality of St. Dominic.

We are a Catholic, fraternal organization dedicated to the principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.

Pro-Life Opportunities Respect Life (Diane Gigantino Baltz /  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it )
We promote respect for life across its spectrum from conception to natural death. Some of our activities include :
March for Life in Washington, D.C. (coordinating bus transportation)
National Night of Prayer for Life in December, including four hours of Eucharistic adoration, prayer and the rosary.
Support of the Pregnancy Centers of Central Virginia including the Spring Walk for Life, fall banquet, Christmas Angel Tree and Christmas Eve children’s liturgy collection.
National and other local and diocesan activities as they arise such as petitions and postcards for congressional bills.

We work for promotion and instruction in natural family planning for engaged coupled and families in the parish. Some of our activities include:
NFP sessions for engaged couples facilitated by NFP user couples in the parish .
NFP classes providing instruction by certified teachers for couples who want to learn NFP.
NFP Awareness Week celebrated in July where we set up promotional materials in the link and offer liturgy suggestions to the pastoral staff.
NFP promotion working with the Diocesan NFP Advisory Committee as needed.
