Mike School, the Youth Minister and LifeTeen Director at Saint Thomas Aquinas University Parish, was born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Having spent most of his life as an army brat, he moved several times up and down the east coast. He moved to Manassas, Virginia during his 5th grade year where he attended both middle and high school. Having graduated with an IB diploma from Stonewall Jackson Senior High School, he attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Although he was not active in his Catholic faith in middle or high school, Mike attributes his conversion to an active Catholic faith life through his involvement in Catholic Campus Ministry at William and Mary. While serving on the student leadership board, he also volunteered with the local parish, Saint Bede, and the youth ministry program. Mike worked with the pastor, Monsignor William H. Carr, and other volunteers to start the LifeTeen program at Saint Bede in late 1999.
After graduating from William and Mary in 2000 with a B.B.A. in Information Technology and B.A. in Government, Mike went to work in the corporate world for a small credit card company called Capital One at the urging of his good friend Dan Beeman (now Father Dan Beeman) who also worked there.
Mike assumed the role of full-time youth minister at Saint Thomas Aquinas University Parish in June 2003, leaving the corporate world behind. In the fall of 2004, Mike started the vibrant LifeTeen program to minister to our parish community.
Mike lives in Crozet with his beautiful wife, K, and two amazing children, Julia and Cazin. His parents still live in Manassas where his father works for the Department of Homeland Security and his mother is a fourth grade public school teacher. His sister lives in Falls Church and is an interior designer. |
